Dr. Hui Wu Joins iTEP's International
Advisory Committee

Dr. Hui Wu has been named to the iTEP International Advisory Board effective September 1, 2019. The Board is composed of individuals with extensive and varied experiences in the fields of business and education. Members provide insight and perspective to assist in the strategic direction of the company. Dr. Wu joins eight other distinguished individuals on the iTEP Advisory Board.

Since 2009, Dr. Wu has served as Chair of the Department of Literature and Languages at the University of Texas at Tyler overseeing academic programs in English, Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, Philosophy, Religion, Asian Studies, as well as the University’s Writing Center. Prior to her tenure at UT Tyler, Dr. Wu was an Associate Professor of Rhetoric and Writing at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA). During her time at UCA, she also served as the Director of the Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language Education Project funded by the U.S. Department of Education, and was the Founding Executive Director of the UCA Confucius Institute for Arkansas.

Educational Background

Dr. Wu holds a Ph.D. in English with a specialization in rhetoric/composition and comparative studies of rhetoric and communication from Texas Christian University. Her scholarship has been prolific and is the source of many numerous publications in academic journals, conference presentations, and keynote speeches. Her most recent book Guiguzi: China’s First Treatise of Rhetoric is published by the Southern Illinois University Press. Her other books include Once Iron Girls: Essays on Gender by Post-Mao Chinese Literary Women (Lexington Books) and Reading and Writing about Disciplines (Fountainhead Press).

In addition to her teaching, writing, and research interests, Dr. Wu has been very active in the area of international education. She has developed, led, or sponsored many study abroad programs for students. She is a strong advocate of language studies. She has also been a leader in fostering cultural exchange and has greatly enhanced the level of campus internationalization at both UCA and UT Tyler.

The International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP) was introduced in 2008 to modernize English language assessment with on-demand scheduling, 24 hour grading, and accurate test data. iTEP provides a convenient and cost-effective testing option delivered in a highly secure environment.

iTEP offers a variety of assessment tools for university and secondary school admissions and ESL placement, hiring and employee assessment (including tests for specific industries), and iTEP Conversation, which assesses conversation skills in 30 minutes. All iTEP exams are graded by certified and trained native English speakers.

More than 800 colleges, universities, middle/high schools, and boarding schools in the USA and Canada accept iTEP results for admissions. Applicants can take iTEP at more than 500 test centers in 61 countries. iTEP International is headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
