iTEP in Northwest India

Educators in the northwest district of India use a variety of tools to help their students reach their goals, including big dreams like studying in an English-speaking country such as Canada or the United States.  The newest tool in their toolbox:  English proficiency tests by iTEP.

Arashdeep Singh,Ph.D., the founder and managing director of Modern Group of Colleges-MGC Campus and founder and CEO chairman of E-Emerge Global is a native of Punjab, India, and is iTEP’s newest partner and currently the only iTEP partner in northwest India, a geographic region that covers five Indian states including the capital of New Delhi. Also a part of this partnership is E-Emerge Global, a consulting organization aimed at helping students study abroad.

“English is not only a necessity to study in countries like the U.S., Canada, England, Australia or New Zealand, but it’s also a common business language”, said Singh. To meet the needs of students and customers, his organizations are working to offer the entire suite of iTEP English fluency tests, but Singh predicts that iTEP Academic and iTEP Conversations will be the most popular.

“These exams are a user-friendly product that we find value in,” Singh said. “Many students don’t need a three-hour exam.  With iTEP, the writing is concrete and the listening is very good.  These tests cover what the universities want, and that’s important.”

E-Emerge and the MGC Group of Colleges administration also sought out the iTEP English language proficiency tests due to the focus on English grammar, formal English and because of their wide acceptance across respected universities in Canada and the U.S.

iTEP is also a natural fit into the E-Emerge Global consulting organization.  E-Emerge is an entire ecosystem built to help students navigate the complicated world of studying aboard, especially in an English-speaking country.  The group helps students with visas, immigration issues and even permanent residency, while also providing English-language tutoring and proficiency testing

iTEP is also a natural fit into the E-Emerge Global consulting organization.  E-Emerge is an entire ecosystem built to help students navigate the complicated world of studying aboard, especially in an English-speaking country.  The group helps students with visas, immigration issues and even permanent residency, while also providing English-language tutoring and proficiency testing. This area of India is a large market for English language coaching, so the E-Emerge coaching and testing centers fit nicely into that demand.

“iTEP is excited to partner with Dr. Singh, and his organization, to provide students from India increased opportunities to study abroad in the USA and Canada. We also believe that iTEP will find a home in Northwest India with the many companies needing Business English testing. We welcome MCG Campus and E-Emerge College,” said Jim Brosam II., President of iTEP International.

The business community, especially the New Delhi area, is a large potential market for English proficiency tests aimed at industry and non-school-based tests.  Singh believes the industry segments iTEP offers really sets these exams apart from the traditional testing marketplace. With a background in mechanical engineering and a former career in the automotive industry, Singh sees the market for exams outside of the university and school-based markets.

“With a population of 150 million people in the areas we serve, the potential market for iTEP is huge, in sectors like education but also in aviation, government, health care and more,” Singh said.

While the student appeal of the iTEP exams, as well as the diversity of products offered, originally drew Singh to the company, iTEP also offers something other tests do not: English testing online capabilities.  COVID-19 events this year have made that particular asset more important than ever.  According to Singh, the flexibility of iTEP sets the product apart from many competitors.

“This year is different, no doubt,” he said.  “While travel and abroad study has been disrupted, students are still planning for the future. These tests are appealing due to availability.

Singh is working to implement iTEP testing through his organizations, regardless of the current situation.  Looking ahead, his target for 2021 is testing 500 students over the year.
