Before Central Michigan University adopted the iTEP Academic-Plus exam in 2020, the ELI primarily received information about students via their student forms and visa paperwork. This information was often insufficient to accurately assess students??? English language skills. In 2014, Tree of Life Christian School chose the iTEP SLATE as their primary English proficiency exam. The International Program Director, Terri Fraser, recommended the iTEP exams based on prior experience with iTEP at another school. The iTEP SLATE-Core is an online English proficiency test that evaluates students in Grammar, Reading, and Listening.
In 2009, Los Angeles City College began using the iTEP Academic-PLUS exam to test the English proficiency of its international students. Exam results were used for admission into the Academic Program and Language Academy, as well as for ESL course placement and skills benchmarking.
iTEP International has maintained a strong partnership with Summit Christian Academy since 2016 when the school began using the iTEP SLATE-Plus exam in its International Program. The exam allowed the program staff to understand students??? English language abilities in more detail and to create a personalized English curriculum for each student.
We use the iTEP Academic-Plus English language proficiency test as part of our approach to ensuring accurate placement in our 3-level EAP pathway, where students take both English
classes and university core classes.
iTEP???s partnership with Norfolk Christian Schools began in 2014 as the school???s international program was becoming more established. The school needed a way to accurately understand students??? abilities for class placement.
